In mountain biking, there's a first time for everything...

…Like getting shocked by an electric fence. I’ve always wondered what degree of pain something like that could inflict and I must say that once the welts have been iced and lathered with anaesthetic cream, it really is painless.

A group of us went to Giba Gorge yesterday for a fun mtb ride and compulsory cappuccino afterwards. Did you know that boycotting coffee results in immediate expulsion from Giba Gorge? Yuh, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Anyway, about 3 minutes from the end of the ride, half our group veered off for the easy way home and half our group decided to go along the “fun” route along the electric fence.
It really is easy - tree stump and bush on one side, electric fence on the other, rocks in the middle . These are my THREE attempts:

First time: landed in the bush, still cleated in. Geenie laughs at me before helping me up. Only a minor shock on the electric fence. Note to self - electric fence is on.

Second time: Balanced on my front wheel for about 2 seconds until that wasn’t fun anymore and fell over only to be caught by my friend, Dog (pronounced in the gangster way ie. Dawg).

Squeezing my bike and body back up the path to try for the third time now, I forgot about the 600000000 volt fence behind me.

“Ow!” I screeched. “I just got shocked on my butt”

Ha haaa haha, Maaaa haaa haaa haa! It’s electrifying! Hahha heh hee hee, Heee.

It was sore. But it was a lot funnier than it was sore. Try it sometime.

Third time: Oh baby, oh baby I made it, I made it, ah hah ah hah I made it!

This is Dawg. Shame, I wouldn’t be surprised if Dawg has a little sacro-iliac back pain after bench pressing 58kg of me yesterday in an attempt to cushion my fall. Thanks Dawg, Myprodol works wonders.

This is Geenie. Geenie watched me on all 3 attempts and then decided to give it a bash herself. She made it first time! biiiiiiiiiiash.

Answer to yesterday’s brain game: It was during the day…:)
