Nelson Mandela celebrates his 92nd birthday on Sunday. Because traveling is not really an option for him now, he will be spending his birthday at home with his family. But it looks like the party will be coming to him for a change, as 95 children from his birth village of Mvezo and the nearby town of Qunu would be flown to Johannesburg to celebrate with him.

The Mandela Foundation is asking people around the world to give 67 minutes of their time to volunteer work – one minute for every year that he spent in the struggle for equality. To publicise the call, celebrities are currently journeying on motorcycles from Johannesburg to Cape Town in honour of Mandela’s Birthday. They will be welcomed on arrival on Sunday by Morgan Freeman, who played Mandela in the film Invictus.

The world will also be celebrating with him this year, Sunday has been named “Nelson Mandela International Day”, which the United Nations decided should be observed every year on his birthday to recognise his struggle for peace and freedom.

Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela. May you have a relaxed, peaceful and fulfilling day on Sunday. If it’s not, then tell everyone to go away and leave you alone and celebrate however you want, you deserve it.
