We trust the police to ensure our safety, and they accept that it comes with some responsibility and danger. But why should we allow criminals to have the right to shoot our police, and say that the police do not have the right to defend themselves? Any attack on the police is an attack against society. I totally agree with Deputy Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula, "we need to kill the bastards before they kill us" There are some who feel that this is not on, and I want them to think about the families of those police officers who died in the line of duty. Does it get to the core of the problem? Is it without consequence? But to what degree does it solve the problem? Does it get to the core of the problem? Is it without consequence?

Can you deal with that?" Obviously my answer at the time was, "Damn straight!" If I ever had to use my weapon on another human being, it would be because my life, or the life of someone I love was in danger. I think Shoot to kill is the only way of shooting - but obviously, the reason would have to be as serious. I also think we underestimate the psycological implications of taking another life... By all means, if you have to, shoot to kill. At least make sure the person who has killed gets the appropriate counselling afterwards.
