I could not believe the difference to our team on Saturday, they played the ball, they defended like demons and they played good solid intelligent rugby. I’m so proud of you guys, you did the impossible and rattled the cages of the All Blacks team, to come out with a convincing 28-19 victory. Well done to Heinrich Brüssow for receiving man of the match and Beast, Smit, Bakkies and Matfield, you engraved fear in the minds of your opponents.

The Springboks were most definitely on top of their game, but what goes up must come down and in Ruan Pienaar’s case, not very straight! Fly half Ruan Pienaar missed three out of the five penalty kicks awarded to the Boks in the first half of the game as well as missing a conversion. Now make no mistake, Ruan is an excellent player on the field and definitely deserves his place on the Bok squad, but lately his kicking has been atrocious. Why not let one of the Steyn’s kick, Morne and Francios have both shown their aptitude in that department?

And what’s up with the All Blacks? Was it the bokke’s defense and play tactics that destroyed the All Blacks resolve  or were they just having an off day? John Smit seems to think that the kiwi’s poor performance was due to having to fly to South Africa just six days before the game and to play at altitude-

So I look forward to the next game in Durbs on the 1st August, to see if our victory was just a fluke or whether we are rightly the best team in the world and worthy opponents to the mighty All Blacks. My money is on the latter.

Well done Bokke
